Occidental Mindoro Rep. Josephine Ramirez-Sato has met with the head of Department of Agriculture in MIMAROPA as she sought aid for the farmers affected by recent calamities.
The Department of Agriculture through the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) has allotted P592,432,000 as indemnification fund for 32,761 Bicol farmers,whose insured crops were damaged by super typhoon “Rolly.”
The Ako Bicol partylist, in coordination with the Department of Agriculture and Provincial Government of Albay, has distributed farm equipment to farmers.
Albay Rep. Fernando Cabredo believes the Department of Agriculture’s Plant, Plant, Plant program is a good initiative, and it would bring better results if the farmers have a regular supply of water for their crops.
While many are happy that the government has provided cash aid to the poor and the vulnerable, Sorsogon Gov. Chiz Escudero said people should remain vigilant.
