Camalig Mayor Carlos “Caloy” Irwin G. Baldo, Jr., has held a meeting with other stakeholders to discuss the smooth implementation of the infrastructure development plans of the government.
Present in the meeting were Municipal Tourism & Cultural Heritage Office (MTCHO) chief, Mr. Jed Villanueva, Department of Public Works & Highways (DPWH) Albay 2nd District Engineering Office, Brgy. Ilawod Punong Barangay (PB), Mr. Edsel Garcia, and affected property owners of Brgy. Ilawod.
“The main objective of the meeting was to shed light on the significance of the road projects and their potential impact on Camalig’s local economy, especially on the tourism and business industry,” the Camalig PIO said.
“Given the town’s close and strategic proximity to the Bicol International Airport (BIA), the proposed road projects are expected to enhance connectivity and linkages, while improving access for travelers heading to Sorsogon, Visayas, Mindanao, and other areas,” it added.
The meeting also zeroed in on the extension of the commercialization efforts of the local government , which aim to facilitate the smooth flow of goods and services, encourage economic growth, and attract investors to the area.
Baldo also emphasized the importance of constructing a wide and orderly road, reiterating that the commercial expansion is set to include Brgy. Ilawod, and a well-designed and properly maintained road would bring various benefits to the community including reduced traffic congestion, improved public safety, and enhanced transportation efficiency.
“The road projects are expected to play a crucial role in the sustainable development and progress of the town, promoting economic growth that could contribute to the delivery of better public service to the Camaligueño constituency,” said the PIO.
