Albay Governor Edcel “Grex” Lagman has expressed his gratitude to the local government of Tiwi and Mayor Jaime Villanueva for their help to realize the Charity Day.
“Mabalos man tabi mayor Jaime Villanueva for helping out with this very important Charity Day in the Pilgrimage Town of Albay,” said Lagman.
“You have truly made Tiwi a big part of Magayon Festival 2023,” he added.
Lagman also commended Vice Governor Glenda Ong Bongao for conceptualizing the meaningful event for the 20 Daragang Magayon contestants.
“Through the concerted effort of VG Glends, the Execom Committee Co-Chair BM Melissa Arias Abadeza-Armedilla, PTCAO head Dorothy Fernandez Colle and LGU-Tiwi, this Charity Day was realized,” said Lagman.
“Twenty (20) “chikitings” and twenty (20) “dalagitas” from Indigenous People’s communities in Tiwi (Agta Tabangnon) were each assigned a role model —- the individual Daragang Magayon 2023 hopefuls themselves,” added the governor.
The Pswdo Albay, through Its head Maria Vivien Andes Cea, also provided toys, health kits and rice packs to the children.
“I’m so happy how these 20 beautiful young women happily took the backseat, became “surrogate mothers” and willingly gave the spotlight to their respective wards in today’s Daragang Magayon event. Indeed, charity can be the ultimate expression of beauty,” said Lagman.
