Albay gov’t sets aside P2M aid for coastal communities

The Provincial Government of Albay has allocated P2 million for the families living in coastal areas who have been affected by recent weather disturbances.
Albay Public Safety and Emergency Management Office (APSEMO) Head Dr. Cedric D. Daep said that P1,841,385.49 was reprogramme from the 2022 unexpected balance of PDRRMC Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund.
“The said amount will be utilize to extend help to economically-affected families through livelihood training and seed money under the DRR Mitigation,” the Albay PIO said.
“Albay given its geographical location, is highly vulnerable to natural disasters which greatly affects the livelihood sectors including farming, fishing, poultry, livestock, and the food supply chain and transport system,” it added.
To recall, Albay was heavily affected by heavy rains earlier this year.
