Albay earmarks almost P2M for assistance to coastal communities

The Provincial Government of Albay has earmarked almost P2 million for the families affected by weather disturbances, particularly the fisher folk and those from coastal communities.
According to Albay Public Safety and Emergency Management Office (APSEMO) Head Dr. Cedric D. Daep, a total pf P1,841,385.49 was reprogrammed from the 2022 balance of PDRRMC Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund.
“The said amount will be utilize to extend help to economically-affected families through livelihood training & seed money under the DRR Mitigation,” said the PIO.
“Albay given its geographical location, is highly vulnerable to natural disasters which greatly affects the livelihood sectors including farming, fishing, poultry, livestock, and the food supply chain and transport system,” it added.
To recall, Albay grappled with heavy rain January, which has caused residents from different parts of Albay to suffer.
