Gov. Socrates joins launching of The Great Kalayaan Expedition

Palawan Governor V. Dennis Socrates has attended the launching of The Great Kalayaan Expedition 2023 and the Pista ng Karagatang Kanluran- The First West Philippine Sea Festival.

The event was held recently at the Puerto Princesa City Baywalk Activity Area. Socrates lauded the local government unit for such activity.

“Nais ko lamang sabihin na karangalan ko ang makasama kayong lahat ngayong gabi, sapagkat ito ay totoong makasaysayang pagkakataon, isang makasaysayang ganap sapagkat ngayon lang nagsimula sa buong kasaysayan ng Kalayaan at ng daigdig, magkakaroon ng tourism industry ang bayan ng Kalayaan,” said the governor.

“So, it is a historic moment, congratulations everyone who made this happened,” he added.

Meanwhile, Vice Mayor Beltsazar S. Alindogan shared the vision of Kalayaan when it comes to theor tourism goals.

“May this event will be remembered as the first paddle of the many paddles that we are about to encounter in the West Philippine Sea in terms of tourism towards the attainment of the Kalayaan vision,” he said.

“By year 2040, the vision of the Municipality of Kalayaan will become a special zone for marine fisheries and tourism in Palawan with inclusive, progressive, and stable economy supported by programs for cultural development, reliable infrastructures, safe and sustainable environment that is resilient to disasters and climate change, self-reliant citizentry, responsive and accountable leaders,” he added.
