Gov. Velasco meets with DENR official

Marinduque Governor Presby Velasco has met with an official of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources to discuss the rehabilitation of a mining area.

“Nakipagpulong din po tayo kay Usec. Malou Erni at Usec. Jonas Leones ng Department of Environment and Narural Resources (DENR) kung saan tinalakay ang planong rehabilitasyon sa Marcopper Mining Area,” Velasco said.

The governor also raised the protection of rivers in the province, particularly in Boac and Mogpog.

“Inirekomenda din po ng inyong lingkod ang pagpapalabas ng kautusan para sa agarang pagpapatupad ng mga hakbang upang maiwasan ang paglabas ng mga nakakalason na tubig sa mga ilog ng Boac at Mogpogm” he said.

Meanwhile, in another development, Velasco also met with National Irrigation Administrator Eduardo Guillen.

The two officials discussed the Bagtingon Irrigation Project and the water impounding projects for the 34 rivers in Marinduque.

“Ang Bagtingon Irrigation Project ay makatutulong sa mga magsasaka ng Buenavista na magbibigay din ng sapat na suplay ng tubig sa mga residente,” he said.
