Pola Mayor Jennifer Mindanao Cruz mulls legal action as owner of tanker in oil spill ignores her calls

Pola Mayor Jennifer Mindanao Cruz is considering taking legal action against the owner of the MT Princess Empress whose sinking caused an oil spill in the waters of Oriental Mindoro and affected her town.

In a Facebook post, Cruz lamented that the she had tried to get in touch with the owner for five days, but received no response or had the call rejected,

Given that the oil has reached Pola’s shores and damaged its environment, she said there is already a basis for the town to file a case,

The livelihood of fisherfolk, the marine protected areas, and the budding tourism industry in Pola are all badly affected, she said.

She will do what she has to do for her people!
