DENT chief Yulo visits El Nido sewage, solid waste treatment plant

Environment Secretary Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga recently visited the El Nido Sewage and Solid Waste Treatment Plant (ENSSWTP).
The secretary and her delegation were welcomed by 1st District Congressman Edgardo L. Salvame, 2nd District Congressman Jose Ch. Alvarez, El Nido Mayor Edna G. Lim, Provincial Economic Enterprise Development Office- OIC Engr. John Gil Ynzon and Provincial Legal Officer Atty. Joshua U. Bolusa who represented Gov. V. Dennis M. Socrates.
The Palawan provincial government thanked the DENR for visiting the said treatment plant, the first of its kind in the country.
“Nagpasalamat naman ang Pamahalaang Panlalawigan sa DENR sa isinagawang pagbisita sa ENSSWTP at pagkilala rito bilang kauna-unahang planta sa buong Pilipinas na mayroong kumpletong pasilidad at isa sa mga solusyon sa problema ng kawalan ng tamang sewage/waste water and solid waste disposal sa bayan ng El Nido na isa sa pangunahing tourist destinations sa bansa,” said the Palawan PIO.
“Inaasahang sa pamamagitan nito ay mas lalo pang maisusulong ang pangangalaga sa kalikasan ng lalawigan,” it added.
“Matatandaang pinasinayaan ang naturang planta noong nakalipas na Setyembre 20, 2021 sa pamamagitan ng I-Support Water Infrastructure Office na magkatuwang na pinondohan ng aabot sa P490 million ng Pamahalaang Panlalawigan at LGU EL Nido habang tinatayang aabot naman sa P170 million ang natipid ng pamahalaan mula sa kabuuang halaga ng proyekto dahil sa in-house expertise ng Palawan Water engineers,” it continued.
