Albay Governor Edcel Grex Lagman has met with the new District Commander of the Philippine Coast Guard Commodore Genito Basilio.

Lagman said that Basilio heads the six provinces of Region V.

“But Albay is his base. He assumed this post in October 2022,” said the governor.

“Mabuhay po kamo and all the coastguards under your control and supervision,” he added.

Lagman also said that the provincial government will help Basilio find new substations.

“The PGA will do its best to help you secure donor-LGUs for your substantions,” he said.

“Majority of Albay’s municipalities and cities are coastal settlements. Except for Polangui, Guinobatan, Camalig and Daraga who do not have coastlines,” he continued.
