Albay Capitol pays P1.6-M arrears to ALECO
The Provincial Government of Albay has paid its arrears to Albay Electric Cooperative (ALECO) amounting to P1.6 million.
Albay Governor Edcel Grex Lagman led a contingent from the Provincial Government to the ALECO main payment center, Old Albay District, Legazpi City on Tuesday.
Lagman personally handed multiple checks with a total amount of P1,614,000 pesos to settle all the PGA payments due to the said cooperative.
Earlier this week, Lagman urged the different Local Government Units in Albay to also pay their own dues to help ALECO increase its collections so that they can continue to pay service providers and prevent any disruption.
“It is very important for LGUs to follow suit. . .this has to happen within the month of January so that their operation should not be hampered because of the arrears,” Lagman said.
Based on ALECO records a total of P16.8 million will be collected if all LGUs will pay their debts.
Lagman commended the municipalities of Malilipot, Pio Duran, and Manito for having no debts in electricity.
He also lauded Mayor Krisel Lagman-Luistro and the Tabaco City for paying about P3.9 million in past dues.
