Atty Leni: Always proud of Filipinos doing so well

POLITIKO - The bible of Philippine Politics.
Former Vice President Atty. Leni Robredo has shared her encounter with a Filipino chef “doing so well” in New York.
“We had another excellent dinner at UPLAND, which has become one of our New York favorites. I posted about this in May after we tried it the first time,” said Robredo, the Angat Buhay chairperson.
She said that Chef Angie Ampil, a very young Filipina, is the Head Executive Chef.
“So proud of her because Upland has consistently been in the list of NYC’s Best Restaurants. It is always difficult to get reservations here,” she said.
Robredo said that Angie was off when they came but Chef Enrique was around.
“He is also from the Philippines, graduated High School from Ateneo de Davao in 2018 (yes, he’s that young), took a Certification Course in Enderun, and went to the US to try his luck here,” she said.
“He said he went to Nashville first and his work included doing the dishes. Now, he is Sous Chef at one of the most successful restaurants in New York. Always so proud of Filipinos doing so well,” she added.
“Thank you, Chef Enrique, for inviting me to tour your huge and very busy kitchen,” she continued.
