Rep. Velasco’s panel tackles power woes in Mindoro
Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Jay Velasco has spearheaded the House Committee on Energy hearing on several power issues in the country.
The panel tackled the House Resolution 34 or the Inquiry into the longstanding power crisis in the Province of Occidental Mindoro, to explore and prescribe long term solutions, strengthen the competitive selection process for power suppliers, address the mismanagement of its power distribution utility, and promote the use of renewable energy.
It is filed by OkSi Rep. Leody ‘Odie’ Tarriela.
The committee also discussed HRs 116 & 148 or tye Investigation into the power supply crisis in the Province of Occidental Mindoro by Rep. Ivan Howard Guintu.
It also zeroed in on HR 118 or the Inquiry into the failure of the National Power Corporation to pay fuel subsidy to power producers in the Province of Oriental Mindoro causing huge power deficit and eventual load shedding in the entire province and on the failure of the National Electrification Administration to act thereon by Oriental Mindoro Rep. Alfonso Umali Jr.
They also discussed HR 133 or the Inquiry into the failure of the Oriental Mindoro Electric Cooperative, Inc., and its independent power providers to supply adequate and reliable power to the consumers causing prolonged daily brownouts in the entire Province of Oriental Mindoro since June 2022 by Rep. Arnan Panaligan.
