Albay VG Lagman seeks to operationalize swimming pool in Tabaco National High School
Albay Vice Governor Edcel “Grex” Lagman vowed to look for funding to operationalize the Olympic-length swimming pool in Tabaco National High School.
“After my 1 kilometer plus swim at Patio de San Jose, na-meet ko su mga swimmers kan Bacacay Blue Marlins and Tabaco Yellow Fin swim teams,” said Lagman.
“While the pool in PDSJ is very clean and has 5 lanes, it’s only 19 meters long or way less than half of the regulation 50 meter Olympic-length pool,” he added.
Lagman said that he had to put in at least 60 laps to make sure it is above 1 kilometer.
“But these swimmers and their coaches shouldn’t be doing computations like this. And it’s not good for muscle memory, race adjustments and swim techniques if competition swimmers like them train in 19 meter pools but compete in 50 meter ones,” said the vice governor
“Kaya magla-lobby ako kay Cong. Edcel na hanapan ng budget ang pag fully operationalize at pag-maintain ng Olympic-length swimming pool sa loob ng Tabaco National High School,” he added.
Lagman shared that the pool has been there since 1992 but it needs to be fixed and improved.
“Happy one of these swim teams will field some of its swimmers in a national competition slated next month,” he said.
