Gov. Velasco meets with MGB officials

Marinduque Governor Presby Velasco has recently met with the officials of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) to discuss the mining operations and the dams in the province.

โKatulad ng Maguila-guila Dam, Boll Dam, North Dam, Makulapnit Dam, Tapian Pit, San Antonio Pit, Mogpog River, Boac River at Calancan Bay, ang mga ito ay malaki ang posibilidad na makapinsala sa ating mga kababayan,โ he added.
โKahapon ay nag-courtesy call sa tanggapan ng inyong lingkod ang Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) sa pangunguna ni Regional Director Glenn Noble, Engr. Alvin Requimin at Engr. Markus Peter Mantubig kaugnay ng monitoring at assessment sa mining facilities ng Marcopper,โ it added.
The MGB, DPWH Marinduque as well as Provincial Legal Officer Atty. Rommel Fernandez also inspected the said dams following the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm Paeng.
โKasama rin sa ocular inspection ang dating Marcopper Mining Site, Maguila-guila Waste Dam at open pit ng San Antonio at Tapian. Nagsagawa rin ng inspeksyon sa Balogo Port (Former Marcopper Port Facilities) ngayong araw (Nob. 11) na inapply ng Gratuitous Special Permit ng Provincial Government upang gawing Marinduque Economic Zone at International Port,โ said Velasco.
โNagpapasalamat tayo sa mga opisyales ng DENR sa pangunguna ni Marinduque OIC-PENR Officer Imelda Diaz at MGB sa pakikipagtulungan upang masolusyunan ang mga problema na ito,โ it added.
