Tinambac Councilor Jonas Soltes remembers honesty lesson from high school teacher

Tinambac Councilor Jonas Soltes has recalled a valuable lesson from one of his high school teachers.

In a Facebook post, Soltes said this male teacher appeared before the class and explained why he was wearing the same clothes as yesterday.

The teacher said he attended a party of a friend the previous night and had to sleep over at his friend’s house due to the late hour.

Because of this, he did not have time to change his clothes.

Soltes said that on that day, he learned an important life lesson.

It taught him that people would accept you for whoever or whatever you are when you are honest about it.

He realized that there is no need to lie to be understood, he said.

Honesty really is the best policy!

“TEACHER STORY: When I was in high school, a male teacher said this to us before he started his lesson:

‘Class, I know that you know that I am wearing the same clothes that I wore yesterday. I attended a party at a friend and I had to sleep over because it was late and I did not have the time to change this morning.’

Then he smiled and went on with the lesson for the day.

That day, I learned more than language skills from him.

He taught me and my classmate this life lesson: That people will always accept you for whoever or whatever you are when you are honest about it. That we do not have to lie to be understood,” Soltes posted.
