OWWA Bicol team visits Gov. Rosal

A team from Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Bicol has paid a courtesy visit to Albay Governor Noel Rosal.

The said team also visited the Taiwanese-owned cargo ship docked in Tabaco City Port to check the situation of the Indonesian and Filipino crews that have been reportedly stranded for seven months.

During the meeting, the repatriation of the Filipino seafarers back to their homes was addressed.

Moreover, OWWA stated that their agency will coordinate with the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) to secure assistance and provide additional support to the trapped seafarers.

Based on previous reports, the Provincial Government of Albay primarily extended help to the stranded seafarers by supplying medical assistance, hygiene kits, and food supplies.
