The Masbate City Council, under the leadership of Vice Mayor Rowena Tuason, has approved key resolutions and acted on several proposed legislations.
The approved resolutions during the 3rd Regular Session of the 8th City Council are as follows:
• Resolution approving the Realignment of Funds of Barangay Centro, City of Masbate for FY 2022 amounting to One Hundred Eighteen Thousand (Php180,000.00) thus, declaring said Barangay Ordinance operative pursuant to Section 333 of RA No. 7160 or the Local Government Code of 1991 by the Hon. Ruby M. Sanchez-Morano;
• Resolution authorizing the Hon. Socrates M. Tuason, City Mayor, to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), for and in behalf of the City Government of Masbate, through City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), with Dra. Rolinda S. de Luna Medical Clinic as service provider for the CSWD’s Assistance to Individual Families/Communities in Crisis Situation by the Hon. Rosemarie V. Salvacion;
• Resolution expressing strong support to the directive of Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio and current Secretary of DepEd, not to require the wearing of school uniform for FY 2022-2023 by the Hon. Meden G. Diez;
• Resolution earnestly requesting the Philippine Charity Sweepstake Office (PCSO), Manila thru Assistant Executive Atty. Lyn Danao Moreno, for two (2) rescue ambulance to be used by the CDRRMO during disaster calamity and conflagration that threatens the lives and limbs of the city dwellers, on collective motion represented by the Hon. Dennis S. Placer;
Meanwhile, the following legislative measures sponsored by the Hon. Jamon J. Espares were approved, on collective motion:
• Resolution requesting the City Government of Masbate to facilitate the relocation of the City Bureau of Fire Protection Office (BFP) in view Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) serving notice to vacate the same due to expiration of contract agreement of occupancy entered into by the former to the latter;
• Resolution requesting the City Government of Masbate subject to the availability, to detail Job Order employees to the Bureau of Fire Protection Office (BFP) as augmentation force to their depleted human resources;
• Resolution requesting the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and Masbate Mobo Water District (MMWD) to furnish the City Council of inventory of fire hydrants maintained by their office within the territorial jurisdiction of the City of Masbate;
• Resolution requesting Sen. Cynthia A. Villar, Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Food for funding of the proposed construction of one (1) unit of Farmer’s Training Center in Barangay Malinta, City of Masbate, as enabling and supportive infrastructure facility towards promoting rural enterprise development and food security in the City of Masbate;
• Resolution requesting Sen. Cynthia A. Villar, Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Food for funding of the proposed project of establishment of one (1) coastal market in the cluster of barangays Cawayan Exterior and Bolo, City of Masbate as enabling and supportive infrastructure facility towards promoting rural enterprise development and food security in the City of Masbate;
• Resolution requesting Acting Secretary of the Department of Agriculture, His Excellency, President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., for funding of the proposed new construction of one (1) unit Farmer’s Training Center in Sitio Sampaloc, Barangay Malinta, City of Masbate, as enabling and supportive infrastructure facility towards attaining food sufficiency in the City of Masbate;
• Resolution requesting Acting Secretary of the Department of Agriculture, His Excellency, President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., for funding of the proposed project of establishment of one (1) coastal market in the cluster of Barangays Cawayan Exterior and Bolo, City of Masbate as enabling and supportive infrastructure facility towards promoting rural enterprise development and food security in the City of Masbate; and,
• Resolution supporting the proposal of the 19th Congress on the postponement of Barangay and SK Election for this year to year 2024;
Also, the following are the approved legislations sponsored by the Hon. Ramil O. Yaneza:
• Resolution requesting the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), 2nd Engineering District, City of Masbate, through Engr. Simon N. Arias, District Engineer, for the installation of solar-powered street lights along upland and coastal roads and Jesse M. Robredo Boulevard national highways in the City of Masbate;
• Resolution earnestly requesting the Department of Energy (DOE) through the newly designated Secretary Raphael Perpetuo Lotilla, to consider the City of Masbate for any possible establishment of renewable energy to augment the Province of Masbate’s short supply of electricity;
• Resolution earnestly requesting the Hon. Sec. Manuel Bonoan of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), to consider the City of Masbate in the implementation of Build, Build, Build Projects under his Excellency President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., stewardship;
• Resolution increasing the daily wage rate of Job Order Personnel from Php310 to Php325.00, subject to the availability of funds.
