DOH reports increasing COVID-19 cases in Bicol
The Department of Health Bicol Center for Health Development (DOH Bicol CHD) has noted the increasing COVID-19 cases in the Bicol Region.
A total of 50 new cases were recorded from June 22 to June 28.
“This showed a 127% increase compared to the previous week (June 15 to June 21, 2022) with twenty (22) cases,” said the department.
Of the 50 new cases in Bicol Region, Sorsogon recorded 15 new cases, Camarines Sur – 11, Catanduanes – 10, Albay – 9, and Camarines Norte – 5. If the present trend continues, cases are projected to increase.
With the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the Bicol Region, DOH Bicol CHD urged the public to continue practicing health protocols such as wearing the best-fitted face masks, hand washing, or hand sanitizing, social distancing, and ensuring airflow.
“The three (3) Cs – closed contact, closed spaces, and crowded places should also be avoided. Self-isolation and early consultation should also be observed once symptoms manifest,” said the DOH.
The department also stressed the importance of being vaccinated and receiving the required number of booster doses.
“Vaccines are proven effective as shown by the low number of cases to no recorded cases in previous months. However, due to the waning immunity from vaccines, the Bicol CHD urges the public who are due for booster doses to get their booster shots,” said the agency.
