VG Lagman fetes Tabak Fashion Show
Albay Vice Governor Edcel “Grex” Lagman was all praises to the Tabak Fashion Show of designer Ditta Sandico, which featured abaca and musa fiber textiles.
Ditta’s fashion show also paraded Mayor Krisel Lagman, Board Member Glenda Ong Bongao, Tabaco City re-elected councilors Salve Estacio Balingbing and Oden Belangel Berces, Tabaco City councilor-elect Carol Ziga So and doves Ana Lea as models.
“The exquisitely delicate yet modern ensemble of Ditta’s featured her artistic use of abaca and musa fiber textiles. They are called pinukpok and truly highlight the Filipina beauty,” said Lagman.
“When worn by Tabaqueñas, these amazing pieces come to life where haute couture and native fabrics seamlessly come together to truly mirror the beauty, intelligence and passion for life of Bicolana women,” he added.
The reelected vice governor also promised to support these textiles and hold a fashion show during the Magayon Festival.
“I hope the Provincial Government of Albay comes up with its own fashion show and make it one of the highlights of the Magayon Festival. As someone who loves fashion shows—especially the ones that heavily use native textiles—i will fully support moves towards this end. Perhaps the PGA can up the ante and make its rendition really spectacular,” he said.
