BM Arevalo: This Nation is not yet ready for a Leni Robredo

POLITIKO - The bible of Philippine Politics.
Masbate Senior Provincial Board Member Jason Arevalo said that the Philippines is not yet ready with the kind of leadership that Vice President Leni Robredo is offering.
“People don’t see value in simplicity. What is ordinary does not appeal,” said Arevalo.
“A leader who commutes in a bus; purchases an economy class plane ticket; drives her own car; takes a motorized boat; does a back-ride on a motorbike, does not appeal to the senses. And for good reasons,” he added.
Arevalo said that the majority in a country like the Philippines, simplicity is nothing to fantasize about; to envy; to dream of.
“The poor hate the ordinary, the simple, the common. What is to fall in love with people and acts that are so “them.” But they may not realize it. They are poor because a few hate what they hate. They are because a few are drawn to crass materialism; to greed; to avarice,” he said
“Luxury and wordliness give luster; simplicity and austerity give weight. Unfortunately, more people see than weigh,” he added.
“This Nation is not yet ready for a Leni Robredo. Perhaps, it does not deserve one like her,” he continued.
Robredo lost to former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. in the last presidential elections.
“Quite ironic and lamentable but the poor love the ones that make them poorer. Worse, even hate others because they do,” he said.
