Very low! BM Arevalo hits Bruce Rivera for shading those who took the Bar more than once

Masbate Senior Provincial Board Member Jason Arevalo took a jab against his fellow lawyer Atty. Bruce Rivera for shading those who took the Bar exams more than once.

Rivera, who obtained his law degree from San Beda College of Law, boasted that Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte passed the Bar exams on her first try. Sara also studied in San Beda but she finished her law degree at San Sebastian College.

“Pakitanong sa iba kung ilang beses sila kumuha ng Bar exams,” said Rivera, a prominent supporter of Sara and her running mate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr.

Arevalo, a product of University of the Philippines College of Law, said that Rivera’s post is the “peak of intellectual snobbishness” from a fellow officer of the court.

Vice President Leni Robredo passed the bar exams on her second try. After becoming a lawyer, VP Leni worked at the Public Attorney’s Office and later on as an alternative lawyer assisting the poor and the marginalized.

“This kind of thinking is no different from saying that if a lawyer does not graduate from the Big Three: UP Law, Ateneo and San Beda, he is of the inferior kind,” said Arevalo.

The local politiko also shared that even Claro M. Recto who graduated Maxima Cum Laude in his pre-Law and Valedictorian in his Law proper flunked the Bar in his first try.

“Yet this foremost nationalist and statesman and one of the finest minds of his generation rose to become congressman, commissioner of education, senator and associate justice of the Supreme Court,” said Arevalo.

“Performance in the bar does not define a lawyer. In as much as passing the Bar in the first attempt does not define a good one,” he added.

The Board Member also did not mince words in saying that at least Robredo obtained a college degree from no less than the University of the Philippines.

“And I am most certain you’ll agree with me, Atty. Bruce, that discriminating against a fellow lawyer for being a second taker yet being silent about a college dropout who claims to be a grad from an Oxbridge school with no compelling proof except a special diploma is the height of prejudice,” said Arevalo.

“Yung isa pumasa sa UP College of Economics at pumasa sa Bar. Yung kandidato mo, ewan,” he added.

“By the way, not all first take passers hit it big. This second taker your post seems to allude to rose to become congresswoman and Vice President of the Republic of the Philippines,” he also said.
