Albay Rep. Joey Salceda has campaigned the tandem of Vice President Leni Robredo and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.
Salceda toured Zamboanga City and Cagayan de Oro to boost the RoSa tandem among Mindanao voters.
The lawmaker said that he respects support for other candidates but that he “will argue for certain candidates, as an economist, as a legislator, and as someone who has recently turned a senior citizen, who wants to leave a better country for the next generations.”
“I thank both candidates for the confidence they have in my advice. Please allow me to make a few requests to them, today. You will see that Bicol and Mindanao have much more in common than what separates us,” Salceda said.
Salceda asked the pairing to complete major railway projects in Bicol and Mindanao.
“I ask RoSa to complete the PNR line to Bicol and the Mindanao Railway. These two lines will change the game for our people, especially farmers,” Salceda said.
Salceda also asked both candidates to “wage war against poverty, as Bicol and Mindanao both continue to have more people in poverty than the national average.”
“We have managed to create pockets of prosperity, such as VP Leni’s Naga City, in my own province of Albay, and in Mayor Sara’s Davao City. But we need to do more,” Salceda explained.
Salceda also asked Robredo and Duterte “to develop our agriculture, in Mindanao, in Bicol, and in the rest of the countryside.”
Citing Duterte’s work, Salceda said that the country has seen the local chief executive “build Davao City’s cacao industry through innovation and investment. That is the model for the future of agriculture in this country.”
Salceda also said that the pairing will be good for fisheries.
