Tiwi farmers receive cash assistance

At least 829 farmers of the town of Tiwi, Albay were given unconditional Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund-Rice Farmers Financial Assistance (RCEF-RFFA) amounting to P5,000.00.

Representing Albay Governor Al Francis C. Bichara, Vice Governor Edcel Greco A. Lagman and Municipal Mayor Jaime Villanueva distributed the cash assistance to the Tiwi farmer with the assistance of Albay Provincial Agriculture Office (APAO) Dept. Head Che Rebeta.

The Farmer’s Finance Assistance Ceremony held in the said town was a continuation of the RCEF-RFFA program launched by the Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary William Dar at Albay Astrodome last year where one hundred Albay farmers were initially given the unconditional cash assistance.

The said aid is in line with R.A. No. 11230, a law that aims to improve rice farmers’ income and lower the cost of rice production to 30% through the distribution of machineries, seeds, credits and extension program.

According to APAO PGDH Che Rebeta, the Tiwi Farmers Financial distribution is the first to be held this month.

A series of cash assistance programs is scheduled this week in other towns of Albay to complete the 29,000 Albay farmers targeted to be given unconditional cash assistance.
