DPWH completes P20M road project in Sorsogon
The Department of Public Works and Highways has recently completed the 1,119 meters paved road at Barcelona in Sorsogon amounting to P20 million.
The project, completed through Sorsogon 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO), is part of the Ariman Jct-Bulusan Lake Road connecting Barcelona and Bulusan, towns classified and designated as tourism hubs in Sorsogon.
Sorsogon 2nd OIC-District Engineer Felix M. Dimaano, Jr, during his report to DPWH Bicol Regional Director Virgilio C. Eduarte in a meeting with DPWH Region 5 key officials, said that the road would connect barangays to the town proper for easy selling of the farmers’ harvests.
“This road will serve as the link of the barangays to the town proper where goods and agricultural products are being sold,” said Dimaano.
“It will also provide better access for people wanting to visit the historically rich and scenic attractions of Barcelona and Bulusan, thereby it will strengthen the local tourism industry,” he added.
The P20-million project was funded under the agency’s FY 2021 Regular Infrastructure Program which started last January 3, 2021 and was completed on September 5 of same year, he added.
“Indeed, when towns and communities are connected and being provided with safer and more convenient access ways, it also creates more opportunities towards progress.” said RD Eduarte.
