Albay Sanggunian OKs SOGIE ordinance on 2nd reading

Albay Vice Governor Edcel Grex Lagman said that the proposed LGBTQ+/SOGIE Ordinance has been approved by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

“Orgullo ko man tabi na i-anunsiyar na an Albay an primerong probinsiya sa bilog na Region V (Bicolandia) na nakapasar on 2nd Reading kan LGBTQ+/SOGIE Ordinance,” he said.

Lagman also hopes that other provinces in the region would follow suit and pass their own version of the ordinance.

“As the local legislative body that blazed this trail, it is the SPA’s hope that the provinces of Catanduanes, Masbate, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur and Sorsogon also follow suit with their own respective ordinances on a policy that’s needed, timely and relevant,” said the Vice Governor.

“Surely, the culture of acceptance, inclusivity and equality is alive and well in Albay. This should well be the norm across the region,” he added.

Lagman also shared that the Provincial Ordinance 003-2021 “An Ordinance Enacting the Manual for the Operation of the Bahay Pag-Asa for Girls Under the PGA” has also been approved.
