El Nido’s remote areas can now stay lit up even at night.

Some 600 solar lamps have been distributed to the residents of various barangays and sitios in El Nido, Mayor Edna Gacot Lim shared on Facebook.

Thanks to a partnership with Meralco, the One Meralco Foundation, the Meralco Employees Fund for Charity, and One Million Lights PH, households without a steady supply of power can have a light source at night, said Lim.

The mayor said the solar lamps are portable and could be worn as headgear or placed on a stand.

Among the recipients were fishermen, farmers, and households with students who need the light to study at night, she said.

Thanks to the donors, these residents could not do more activities at night, she said.

It’s time to take them out of the dark!

“LIGHT UP EL NIDO!

Bucana – Sitio Yucoton, Sitio Duli, Brgy. Teneguiban – Sitio Dagmay, Sitio Daguyon, Sitio Sabang, Sitio Cagbuli Island, at Brgy. Bebeladan – Sitio Vigan, Sitio Kiminawit (Proper, Masaganang Tubig, Baras).

Matamang Salamat!” Lim posted.
