DOH reminds Bicolanos: COVID-19 vaccines not for sale
The Department of Health Bicol Center for Health Development (DOH Bicol CHD) is reminding Bicolanos that COVID-19 vaccines and slots for vaccination should be free.
The department stressed that COVID vaccines, including those procured by private entities and the LGUs, and vaccination slots are not for sale.
“Under the FDA Act of 2009, the manufacture, importation, exportation, sale, offering for sale, distribution, transfer, non-consumer use, promotion, advertising, or sponsorship of any unregistered health product is also prohibited and will be penalized,” the department said.
It also said: “Any person found to be participating in such prohibited act may face, upon conviction, imprisonment ranging from one (1) to 10 years or a fine of not less than PHP50,000 but not more than PHP500,000.”
The department earlier urged Bicolanos to get vaccinated as the rollout has been expanded to include the general adult population.
The DOH has reported 247 new COVID-19 cases in Bicol, to push the region’s total to 41,291.
Active cases are now at 13,640 or about 33.03% of the total cases.
