Masbate Senior Provincial Board Member Jason Arevalo has mourned the sudden passing of human rights chief Chito Gascon.

Arevalo said that a “life lived for others is a life well-lived.”

“Thank you for fighting for the rights of the poor, the marginalized, the oppressed. Thank you for standing up against state excesses and abuses,” said the local politiko.

Gascon, chairman of the Commission on Human Rights, passed away last Saturday morning due to COVID-19 complications. He was 57.

Gascon was appointed as chairperson of the CHR in 2015. He was supposed to finish his term in May 2022.

“So long, Chito. May God welcome you who resolutely stood for least of our brothers,” said Arevalo.
