Tears of joy! Albay Vice Gov. Grex Lagman cries over Pinoys’ Olympic boxing feat

Albay Vice Gov. Grex Lagman shed tears of joy over the awesome showing of Filipino boxes in the Tokyo Olympics.

In a Facebook post, Lagman admitted to being emotional over their performance, as the country’s pride and honor was on the line.

He said he was thrilled when Carlo Paalam bested his opponent to get a chance at the gold medal, which would be a first in boxing for the country.

He was also very proud of Eumir Marcial who won a bronze medal.

He assured Marcial that he made his mark with his performance against his Ukranian opponent.

His bronze medal sure feels like gold to his fellow Pinoys, he added.

Thanks to the boxers, Filipino pride is sky high!

“Opo, iyakin po ako when our country’s pride and honor is on the line… just experienced the thrill of victory for us, Filipinos. I admit that i shed a tear (or possibly, more) earlier when Carlo Paalam won a few hours earlier to contend for our country’s first boxing gold medal. ❤️ No goodbyes yet for Paalam. Not yet. He will say his goodbyes in Tokyo after he wins our first GOLD in boxing. Claim na natin ‘to! 🙏💪

Eumir Marcial, so proud of you dude for the bronze medal. Okay lang yon. The Ukrainian fighter proved to be the reincarnation of Robocop. But he felt your punches brother in your slugfest. I’m 100% sure that he did feel it. Congratulations! Not all that glitters is gold. Your bronze sure is ‘gold’ to many of your countrymen. Maraming salamat po! 🙏💪,” Lagman posted.
