DPWH completes road project leading to famous Masbate diving spot
Locals and tourists going to a famous diving spot in Masbate will now have a convenient way to travel after the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently completed a road project.
Secretary Mark Villar said that the project by DPWH Masbate 1st District Engineering Office involves the concreting of a two-lane junction national road to Sitio Tacdugan in Barangay Baahanglad, San Jacinto, Masbate.
“This road will serve as a catalyst in improving the rural economy of Masbate through tourism and easy transport of agricultural products at a lower cost”, said Villar.
The 5.97 kilometer tourism road beginning at Barangay Sta. Rosa in the municipality of San Jacinto, Masbate leads to the famous diving spot “Manta Bowl”, a Manta Ray sanctuary in Ticao, Burias Pass, up to Ticao Island Resort.
Secretary Villar, citing reports from DPWH Region 5 Director Virgilio Eduarte, explained that aside from tourism and agricultural prospects, the project can also be a venue of wellness and fitness activities such as jogging and biking, with captivating sceneries for photography enthusiasts.
Other activities on the project include off-carriageway concrete pavement, drainage and slope protection structures, and installation of lighting facilities.
