Palawan IATF, PDRRMC discuss COVID-19 situation in the province
The Palawan Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force and members of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council have convened to discuss the current COVID-19 situation in the province.
Based on the presentation of the Acting Provincial Health Officer, during Comorbidity Week 23 or starting June 12, COVID-19 cases in the province dropped from the surge seen in Comorbidity Week 15.
“Ilan sa reasons kaya bumababa ang kaso natin ay dahil sa pag-decrease ng inter zonal travel and yung border control sa mga munisipyo natin.”
Based on the Center for Health Development MIMAROPA, active cases dropped by 55% and the current risk status is now ‘low’.
Meanwhile, another suggestion during the meeting was the formation of a group that will assess the effect of COVID-10 in the economic status of Palawan.
Provincial Tourism Officer Maribel Buñi said that they continue to coordinate with municipalities and tourism establishments.
“Tinitingnan din kasi natin yung pangkalahatang kapakanan… So incase na magbukas muli ang tourism industry, it should be subject to restrictions and protocols… Malaki kasi ang contribution ng turismo ng Palawan sa Gross Domestic Product ng bansa, kaya malaki rin ang epekto nito sa ating ekonomiya,” she said.
