Vice President Leni Robredo isn’t exactly surprised that math whiz Farrel Wu has gone far.

In a Facebook post, Robredo lauded Farrel’s accomplishment after he graduated from MIT with a perfect 5.0 GPA.

She said it was not far-fetched that he would excel, and shared that she knows him personally since he had been her daughter Jillian’s classmate since grade school.

Farrel and Jillian trained for international math competitions and joined these together, and Farrel always bagged gold medals for the Philippines, she said.

She also shared that Farrel has a good heart and donated the money he earned from tutoring to the Jesse M. Robredo Foundation when it was building schools.

When he got into the best schools in the US and chose MIT, she was not surprised because it was the hardest to get into, she said.

She always knew he would perform well, but getting a 5.0 GPA is really something else, she added.

He deserves all the accolades!

“Saw this Manila Bulletin article about a Filipino who recently graduated from MIT with a perfect 5.0 GPA. Nakakapangilabot!

I know Farrel Wu personally. He was Jillian’s friend since they were in Grade School. They trained for International Math Competitions and competed together. It was Farrel who would always bag the GOLD for the Philippines. He brought a lot of honor for the country from Grade School and High School.

When I was in Congress, he visited me in the office to donate money he earned from his tutoring work to the Jesse M. Robredo Foundation because, at that time, we were building schools in remote areas.

It was no surprise that he got into the best Ivy League schools in the US when he applied for college. Also no surprise that he chose MIT, which is one of the most difficult to enter into. I knew he would excel even in MIT but to have a perfect GPA is no mean feat.

Congratulations
