300 new COVID-19 cases logged in Bicol; Region’s total climbs to 14,102

For the second straight day, the Department of Health Bicol logged at least 300 COVID-19 infections in the region as total cases now exceeded the 14,000 mark.

The DOH reported 300 new cases on June 8, lower than the 377 recorded on June 7. However, total cumulative cases are now at 14,102.

Active cases on the other hand are now at 4,750, representing 33.68 of the total cases.

The DOH said that details of newly reported cases are forwarded to concerned Provincial/City/Hospital Epidemiology and Surveillance Units (ESUs) and LGUs.

It added that releasing of personal information of patients is governed by the provisions of the Data Privacy Act (R.A. 10173).

Meanwhile, an additional 102 patients were tagged as recovered, pushing the total number of recoveries to 8,899.

Five individuals were added to the list of fatalities due to the dreaded disease, pushing the death toll in the region to 453.

“The fight against COVID-19 rests primarily in each individual action,” said the DOH.

“Everyone should take the necessary precautions to protect themselves and others from contracting the virus,” it added.
