Bicol’s COVID-10 cases surge past 12,000 mark

The coronavirus disease cases in Bicol Region have crossed the 12,000 mark after the DOH logged 191 new infections.

Total cases as of May 29 are now at 12,022 while active cases rose to 3,696.

The distribution of newly reported cases is as follows:

The DOH said that the details of newly reported cases are forwarded to concerned Provincial/City/Hospital Epidemiology and Surveillance Units (ESUs) and LGUs.

It added that releasing of personal information of patients is governed by the provisions of the Data Privacy Act (R.A. 10173).

Meanwhile, recoveries are now at 7,736 after 50 new patients recovered from the disease.

Death toll climbed to 399 after a patient from Sorsogon succumbed to the disease.

“The fight against COVID-19 rests primarily in each individual action. Everyone should take the necessary precautions to protect themselves and others from contracting the virus,” the DOH said.
