Puro hearsay! OkSi Rep. Sato votes to dismiss impeachment complaint vs Leonen
Occidental Mindoro Rep. Josephine Ramirez-Sato voted to dismiss the impeachment complaint against Supreme Court Associate Justice Marvic Leonen.
Sato said that the complaint, endorsed by Ilocos Norte Rep. Ilocos Norte Rep. Angelo Marcos Barba, cousin of defeated vice presidential bet Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr., was based on “hearsay” and “unsubstantiated.”
“To give due course to a hearsay and unsubstantiated impeachment complaint will make a mockery of a very serious and constitutionally mandated proceedings,” Sato said
“In view of this, I vote yes to dismiss the impeachment complaint against Supreme Court Associate Justice Mario Victor F. Leonen,” Sato added.
Voting 44-0 with 2 abstentions, the House committee on justice voted to dismiss the impeachment complaint.
Leonen welcomed the dismissal and lauded a “leadership that refuses to be used to debase and degrade sacred constitutional processes for unworthy ends.”
“To the prime movers of this baseless complaint and those who have supported them, know this: I wish you well, and I wish that you will find your own peace,” Leonen said.
