Vice President Leni Robredo is sending a team in Puerto Princesa City tomorrow to help Palawenos amid the surge of COVID-19 cases in Palawan.

“We have a team leaving for Puerto Princesa tomorrow where we are set to roll out the Palawan version of our Covid 19 Response Initiative. Today, we were busy at the office preparing for the Covid Kits our team will be bringing with them,” said the Vice President.

“When we read about the surge in Palawan, we got in touch with Puerto Princesa Mayor Cecil Bayron. He linked us up with Dr Dean Palanca, Head of the Incident Management Team who briefed us of the situation on the ground,” added Robredo.

Robredo said that she immediately got in touch with her Puerto Princesa-based cousin and baptismal goddaughter, Nikki Prado, and asked her help to link the OVP with people and groups whom they can partner with.

“Nikki was a fast worker and we are so grateful that she linked us up with the right people. Our team had a zoom meeting yesterday with the group she gathered and we are so happy that everyone is enthusiastic with the project,” she said.

The Vice President also thanked Mr. Mackie Baluyut of the Palawan State University, Dr. Adelito Posas, PMMG PMC – Palawan Medical Missions Group, Multipurpose Cooperative Hospital, Dr. Paul Warren Saludez of the Palawan Medical Society and Mr. Mark Terrence Law of Skylight Hotel (Quarantine Facility).

“After our meeting with our private partners, we had a series of meetings with Dr Dean and it’s all systems go for us!! Thank you to LGU Puerto Princesa and our partners for giving us the opportunity of working with you on this project,” she said.
