Total COVID-19 cases in Bicol exceed 10,000

The total coronavirus disease cases in Bicol Region have surged past the 10,000 mark after the Health department logged 100 new cases.

The cumulative COVID-19 cases in Bicol rose to 10,091 as of May 19. Active cases on the other hand are now 2,667.

The distribution of newly reported cases is as follows:

The DOH said that the details of newly reported cases are forwarded to concerned Provincial/City/Hospital Epidemiology and Surveillance Units (ESUs) and LGUs.

It added that releasing of personal information of patients is governed by the provisions of the Data Privacy Act.

Sixty-eigjt patients survived the disease, pushing the total number of recoveries to 7,061.

Meanwhile, total death toll jumped to 363 after 16 additional fatalities were logged.

Ten of those deaths came from Camarines Sur, four came from Camarines Norte and two from Naga City.

“The fight against COVID-19 rests primarily in each individual action. Everyone should take the necessary precautions to protect themselves and others from contracting the virus,” said the DOH.
