Total COVID-19 cases in Bicol rise to 9,900

The total number of coronavirus disease cases in Bicol Region is now close to 10,000 after the Health department logged 63 new infections.

Total cases in the region as ofMay 17 are now at 9,900. Active cases are now at 2,703.

The distribution of newly reported cases is as follows:

ALBAY: 12 (19.05%)
6 – Legazpi City
2 – Pio Duran
1 – Daraga
1 – Libon
1 – Ligao City
1 – Polangui

CAM SUR: 32 (50.79%)
22 – Naga City
2 – Bula
2 – Canaman
2 – Ocampo
1 – Bato
1 – Libmanan
1 – San Fernando
1 – Tigaon

SORSOGON: 19 (30.16%)
9 – Sorsogon City
2 – Bulan
2 – Gubat
2 – Irosin
2 – Juban
1 – Casiguran
1 – Magallanes

The DOH said the details of newly reported cases are forwarded to concerned Provincial/City/Hospital Epidemiology and Surveillance Units (ESUs) and LGUs.

It added that releasing of personal information of patients is governed by the provisions of the Data Privacy Act.

Meanwhile, total recoveries rose to 6,853 after the Health department recorded 187 recoveries.

Death toll on the other hand remains 344.

“The fight against COVID-19 rests primarily in each individual action,” said the health department.

“Everyone should take the necessary precautions to protect themselves and others from contracting the virus,” it added.
