108 new COVID-19 infections recorded in Bicol

The coronavirus disease cases in Bicol Region have risen to 9,837 after the Health department logged 108 new infections.

Total active cases as of May 16 are now at 2,827, representing 28.74% of the cumulative cases.

The distribution of newly reported cases is as follows:

The DOH said that details of newly reported cases are forwarded to concerned Provincial/City/Hospital Epidemiology and Surveillance Units (ESUs) and LGUs.
It also stressed that releasing personal information of patients is governed by the provisions of the Data Privacy Act.

Meanwhile, 105 patients survived the disease, pushing the total number of recoveries to 6,666.

Death toll increased to 344 after four fatalities were reported. Two of them came from Camarines Norte and the other two came from Sorsogon.

“The fight against COVID-19 rests primarily in each individual action. Everyone should take the necessary precautions to protect themselves and others from contracting the virus,” said the DOH.
