VP Robredo mourns death of former teacher
Vice President Leni Robredo has mourned the passing of her friend and former teacher who just recently passed away.
“Just a few days ago, I received a text message from my staff asking me if I know of a Mrs. Linda Orbita because somebody informed her that she was in the ICU of a hospital in Naga. I told her that yes, Ma’am Linda was my high school English teacher,” the Vice President shared.
“I called up another member of my staff and asked her to make sure that we extend help. Even before we could, I was told she didn’t make it,” she added.
Robredo described Ma’am Linda a kind and gentle soul.
“So many of us were taught by her. When my daughters attended the same school that I went to a few decades later, she was their Vice Principal and Prefect of Discipline,” Robredo said.
“Over the years, we maintained a close friendship. She supported me in all my endeavors, would defend me on facebook, visited my Mom when she was in the hospital, and attended her wake. Her passing is a very personal loss” she added.
The Vice President said she opened Ma’am Linda’s facebook page to try to make sense of when she started feeling sick or what her last posts were about.
“And then I saw this post she made on April 23, greeting me a happy birthday. I regret not seeing this when she was still alive. I wasn’t even able to thank her. I regret not knowing early enough that she was sick. I am sorry that I didn’t get to spend as much time with her during Mommy’s wake. But her legacy will live on in the hearts of the lives she touched and the people she loved,” she added.
