COVID-19 cases in Bicol surge past 9,000 mark

The coronavirus disease cases in Bicol Region have climbed to 9,136 after the Department of Health Development-Bicol logged 146 new cases.

Active cases as of May 10 are now at 2,741 representing 30% of the total cases.

The distribution of newly reported cases is as follows:

The DOH said the details of newly reported cases are forwarded to concerned Provincial/City/Hospital Epidemiology and Surveillance Units (ESUs) and LGUs.

It added that releasing of personal information of patients is governed by the provisions of the Data Privacy Act (R.A. 10173).

Meanwhile, 65 patients have survived the disease, bringing the total number of recoveries to 6,072.

On the other hand, six were reportedly added to the list of death toll, which now rose to 323.

“The fight against COVID-19 rests primarily in each individual action. Everyone should take the necessary precautions to protect themselves and others from contracting the virus,” said the DOH.
