Total COVID-19 cases in Bicol now close to 9,000

The total coronavirus disease cases in Bicol are now close to 9,000 after the Department of Health in the region logged 75 new cases.

The cumulative cases are now at 8,990, while active cases as of May 9 are currently at 2,666.

The distribution of newly reported cases is as follows:

ALBAY: 17 (22.67%)

CAM SUR: 29 (38.67%)
8 – Iriga City
6 – Calabanga

CATANDUANES: 9 (12%)

2 – Bato
2 – San Andres

The DOH said the details of newly reported cases are forwarded to concerned Provincial/City/Hospital Epidemiology and Surveillance Units (ESUs) and LGUs.

It added that releasing of personal information of patients is governed by the provisions of the Data Privacy Act (R.A. 10173).

Meanwhile, total recoveries are now at 6,007 representing 66.82% of the total cases.

Death toll climbed to 317 after three new fatalities were logged in the Bicol. Two of the deaths came from Albay, while the other one came from Sorsogon.

“The fight against COVID-19 rests primarily in each individual action. Everyone should take the necessary precautions to protect themselves and others from contracting the virus,” said the DOH.
