118 new COVID-19 cases recorded in Bicol

The total coronavirus disease cases in Bicol Region have reached 8,588 after the Department of Health Bicol logged 118 new cases.

Active cases increased to 2,484 as of May 5, representing 28.92% of the total reported cases.

The distribution of newly reported cases is as follows:

The DOH said the details of newly reported cases are forwarded to concerned Provincial/City/Hospital Epidemiology and Surveillance Units (ESUs) and LGUs.

It added that releasing of personal information of patients is governed by the provisions of the Data Privacy Act.

Twenty-three new recoveries were reported, pushing the total number of recoveries to 5793.

Two deaths were logged — one from Masbate and one from Sorsogon. Total death toll is now at 309.

“The fight against COVID-19 rests primarily in each individual action. Everyone should take the necessary precautions to protect themselves and others from contracting the virus,” said the DOH.
