Total COVID-19 cases in Bicol rise to 8,279

The coronavirus disease cases in Bicol Region rose to 8,279 after the Department of Health Bicol Region logged 155 new cases.

Active cases are now 2,334 representing 28.19% of the total cases as of May 2.

The distribution of newly reported cases is as follows:

The DOH noted that details of newly reported cases are forwarded to concerned Provincial/City/Hospital Epidemiology and Surveillance Units (ESUs) and LGUs.

It added that releasing of personal information of patients is governed by the provisions of the Data Privacy Act.

Meanwhile, 11 new patients survived the virus, pushing the total number of recoveries to 5,657.

One patient from Sorsogon died due to the viral illness. Total death toll climbed to 288.

“The fight against COVID-19 rests primarily in each individual action. Everyone should take the necessary precautions to protect themselves and others from contracting the virus,” said the DOH.
