Bicol’s COVID-19 cases rise to 8,121

The total COVID-19 cases have surged past 8,000 mark, the Department of Health Bicol Center for Health Development reported.

The DOH logged 107 new cases as of May 1, pushing the total cases to 8,124. Active cases on the other hand are now at 2,191.

The distribution of newly reported cases is as follows:

The DOH said the details of newly reported cases are forwarded to concerned Provincial/City/Hospital Epidemiology and Surveillance Units (ESUs) and LGUs.

It added that releasing of personal information of patients is governed by the provisions of the Data Privacy Act (R.A. 10173).

Meanwhile, total recoveries are now 5,646 representing 69.50% of the total cases.

Total death toll climbed to 287 after a patient from Camarines Norte reportedly died due to the viral illness.

“The fight against COVID-19 rests primarily in each individual action. Everyone should take the necessary precautions to protect themselves and others from contracting the virus,” the DOH said.
