Total COVID-19 cases in Bicol exceed 7,000

The coronavirus disease cases in Bicol Region has surged past the 7,000 mark, the Department of Health Bicol reported.

The DOH logged record-high new 175 cases, pushing the total COVID-19 cases in Bicol to 7,127 as of April 22.

The distribution of newly reported cases is as follows:

The DOH said that details of newly reported cases are forwarded to concerned Provincial/City/Hospital Epidemiology and Surveillance Units (ESUs) and LGUs.

It added that releasing of personal information of patients is governed by the provisions of the Data Privacy Act (R.A. 10173).

Total number of recoveries remain 5,229, while death toll rose to 271 after 4 fatalities were logged.

“The fight against COVID-19 rests primarily in each individual action,” the department said.

“Everyone should take the necessary precautions to protect themselves and others from contracting the virus,” it added.
