COVID-19 cases in Bicol rise to 6,614

The coronavirus disease cases in Bicol Region have climbed to 6,614, the Department of Health Center for Development-Bicol reported.

Active cases in the region are now 1,258 representing 19.02% of the total cases after 93 cases were reported on April 18.

The distribution of newly reported cases is as follows:

The DOH said that the details of newly reported cases are forwarded to concerned Provincial/City/Hospital Epidemiology and Surveillance Units (ESUs) and LGUs.

It added that releasing of personal information of patients is governed by the provisions of the Data Privacy Act (R.A. 10173).

Twenty-four new patients have recovered, pushing the total number of recoveries to 5,096.

A patient from CamSur meanwhile succumbed to the disease. Death toll rose to 259.

“The fight against COVID-19 rests primarily in each individual action. Everyone should take the necessary precautions to protect themselves and others from contracting the virus,” the DOH said.
