Total COVID-19 cases in Bicol rise to 5,789

The coronavirus disease cases in Bicol Region have climbed to 5,789 as of April 8, the Department of Health Center for Health Development Bicol reported.

Forty-nine new cases were reported as of yesterday. Active cases currently stood at 710.

The distribution of newly reported cases is as follows:

The DOH said that the details of newly reported cases are forwarded to concerned Provincial/City/Hospital Epidemiology and Surveillance Units (ESUs) and LGUs.

It added that releasing of personal information of patients is governed by the provisions of the Data Privacy Act.

Meanwhile, there are now 4,842 recoveries while death toll rose to 237 after one patient in Sorsogon succumbed to the disease.

“The fight against COVID-19 rests primarily in each individual action,” the department noted.

“Everyone should take the necessary precautions to protect themselves and others from contracting the virus,” it added.
