Make it easier for private sector to import vaccines, says Masbate Board Member Jason Arevalo
Amid delays in the government’s vaccination drive, Masbate Board Member Jason Arevalo joined calls to make it easier for the private sector to import these much needed doses.
In a Facebook post, Arevalo noted that the Philippines is falling behind in the race to immunize the population against COVID 19.
But he said the government could tap another lifeline, which is the private sector.
Private entities should be allowed to import vaccines tax-free or with the least obstacles, he said.
This will ensure that there will be more vaccines in the country and also reduce the government’s compulsion to take out more foreign loans, he added.
Sounds like a win-win to us!
“The Philippines lags behind in the race for vaccine procurement. Time to press another lifeline.
Allow the private sector to import these life-saving vaccines either tax-free or with the least encumbrance.
That will beef up vaccine resources and reduce the compulsion to take out more foreign loans…,” Arevalo posted.
